then any step by step someone gives you on here is going to be no more help to you as the instructions Canon give are as basic and step-by-step as you can get.

Go to the canon website, next go to the “download library”, fill in the information for your camera. Go to the “firmware” window and download the information to your computer. The transfer the information to your “Compact Flash” memory card. Put the CF card in your camera, using the menu scroll down to the Firmware window and upload the new Update Version to your camera. You can then erase the CF card.
